SiteGround Goes Back to School... To Help Students

During the last year few university professors, who use SiteGround web hosting for their personal projects, approached us with a similar issue: they were not happy with the generic hosting solutions provided by their academic institutions and they preferred to reveal the secrets of the web to their students using SiteGround hosting instead. Of course the main bummer was the fact that the standard hosting fees were not very suitable for most of the students. So we started to work on a special Student hosting program to help the future stars of the internet get started easily without extra budget required. Today we are happy to announce the latest and improved version of our Student Web Hosting Program.

How did it all get started?

At first we started by working with a select group of faculty members, providing free hosting for students enrolled in their courses. In just a few months we had close to 700 free accounts created. The initial success made us think that we could really expand the program and make it available to any student, no matter whether their professor/university is working with us. That is why we now launched an improved version of the program that allows every student to use our hosting at a special highly-discounted price.

The new feature of the program is that students do not have to rely on a teacher anymore to get an account. They can sign up for our StartUp hosting plan at a special very low price with their .edu email. A free subdomain of the type [your name].siteground.net^* is also included in this special student’s edition of our hosting plan.
