Can I transfer the ownership of my website?

Yes, you can transfer the ownership of your website to a new owner. The new owner doesn’t even need to be a SiteGround client yet and you can use their email address to invite them.

Hosting plans cannot be transferred to another SiteGround user. Also, if your StartUp account has less than 30 days until its expiration, you will not be able to transfer a website’s ownership. Furthermore, the destination account must have a free website slot in order to accept the website ownership transfer.

To transfer your website, go to your Client Area > Websites and find the website you wish to transfer. Click on the kebab menu  and there you will see the Transfer ownership option.

Transferring the ownership of the website will include all the information for that website, including the website’s files, database(s), email accounts and SSL certificates.

If you registered the website’s domain name with SiteGround, you’ll need to transfer it to the new owner along with the website, as part of the site transfer process.

The ownership transfers are limited to 1 per day to the same destination account.
