How to continue a shared chat in AI Studio

SiteGround’s AI Studio allows users to create a public share link for an entire chat transcript or a single AI response. Anyone with the link can view the shared chat, even without an AI Studio account. This copy contains all AI responses but none of the user prompts.

If you are a logged-in AI Studio user, you can continue the shared conversation directly from the chat input. This creates a private copy of the shared chat in your own account, so your follow-up messages don’t change the original shared chat.

Requirements to continue a shared chat

You need to have an AI Studio account and to be logged in to continue a shared chat. If you don’t have one, you’ll see a “Sign up for free” button in the chat transcript header and in the top-right corner that will take you to the AI Studio sign-up page.

Alternatively, if you have an account but you are not logged in, use the Login button.

How to continue a shared chat

Here is how you can continue a shared chat in your own AI Studio:

1. 1. Open the shared chat link you received.

1. Log in to your AI Studio account if you haven’t already.
2. Review the shared chat content.
3. Type your message in the chat input area at the bottom.
4. Press Enter or click Send.

This creates a private copy of the shared chat in your own account, and you can continue the conversation.

What you can access based on your plan

Essential Plan

You can continue chats that use:

• All-Purpose Assistant (general chat)
• WordPress Agent

If the shared chat uses a premium Plus plan agent (SEO Expert, Social Media Agents, etc.), you’ll see an upgrade prompt. You need a Plus plan to continue with premium agents.

Plus Plan

You can continue any shared chat, including those that use premium agents. The conversation will continue with the original agent using your own token budget.

Important limitations

Files and images

• Images: Fully accessible. You can view, copy, or download them.
• Uploaded files: Not copied to your account. You’ll see placeholders instead of the original files (PDFs, CSVs, etc.) for privacy reasons.

Connected accounts

If the shared chat was created with an agent that uses third-party integrations with the original author’s accounts (like WordPress, Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, or Email Marketing), AI Studio shows a confirmation prompt before you continue it in your account, as it may produce results that are not relevant to you.

Thus, you will have to connect the chat to your own accounts.

Action buttons

If the chat includes action buttons (like “Post now” for social media):

• Before connecting your accounts: Buttons show generic CTA (call-to-action) text like “Connect and post” or “Get it now”
• After connecting your accounts: Buttons become active, and you can execute actions with your own connected accounts.
