Product Feed is an extremely effective feature that allows you to utilize the power and outreach of social media to drive sales and attract new potential customers for your online store.

In this guide, you will learn how to enable Product Feed in SiteGround Ecommerce.

What is a product feed?

A product feed is an XML file containing structured data for all products on your Ecommerce website. It serves as a bridge between your store and social media, helping you convert social media users into potential clients.

Essentially, it is a digital catalog of your entire inventory that you can connect with social platforms like Facebook, Instagram, Google Shopping, and others, and display your offers on their ad sections.

IMPORTANT! The Product Feed file includes only live products and excludes products with Draft status.

The Product Feed file contains the following data for each product:

  • Product ID — A unique identifier for each item
  • Product title — The product’s unique name
  • Description — What the product is and its key features
  • Price — Current selling price
  • Image URL — The link to the high-quality photo of the item
  • Product URL — The product’s page address on your website
  • Availability — Shows whether the product is in stock or sold out

Product Feed benefits

The product feed feature brings several benefits to your store:

  • Multi-channel consistency — A product feed allows you to maintain a “Single Source of Truth.” You can disseminate your product data across dozens of platforms simultaneously while ensuring the branding and details remain consistent.
  • Dynamic remarketing — A product feed enables ad platforms like Meta and Google to use dynamic remarketing. It allows them to track which products visitors viewed on your website and automatically offer them the same items on their ad platforms.
  • Scalability — Instead of having to manually post your products, you can use a single product feed file containing all product data to easily upload your entire inventory to different platforms.
  • Improved personalization and ad targeting — By connecting your product feed to popular ad platforms, you take advantage of their advanced algorithms that track users’ habits and interests and display your products to the most relevant audience.
