How Are Hosting Features and Tools Different for the SiteGround Website Buildеr App Websites

Building a website with SiteGround Website Builder App is different in nature than building a site with a third-party CMS like WordPress, Joomla, etc, or through custom code. While you can create a website with the Website Builder App under your hosting plan, there are some differences between the applicable features and tools, which we describe below:

Management Tools Not Applicable for SiteGround Website Builder App

When using SiteGround Website Builder App, you manage the content of your website (texts, images, page layout, etc.) directly from the Website Builder Admin accessible through Client Area > Websites > Site Admin button.

As we completely manage your site infrastructure, you do not need to worry about database setups, PHP configurations, etc. Due to the managed nature of the Website Builder application, the following features that are needed when you use third-party CMS or custom code are not applicable to Website Builder App websites:

• File Manager
• FTP accounts
• SSH access
• MySQL/PostgreSQL management
• PHP version management.

Natively included free features in SiteGround Website Builder App

The features below are natively provided to all websites created with the Website Builder App and do not require additional management by you. That is why they do not need management interfaces the way websites built with third-party CMS or custom code do.

Free SSL

SiteGround automatically installs a WildCard Let’s Encrypt Certificate for your website built with the Website Builder App. As our application is set up to work seamlessly out of the box with this SSL, you do not need the additional SSL management tools (like the HTTPS Enforce) we provide to websites built with third-party CMS or custom code.

Free SiteGround CDN

SiteGround automatically enables a free SiteGround CDN for each website built with our Website Builder App with the premium dynamic caching function also enabled by default for free. SiteGround CDN does not need additional configuration by you and that is why it does not have the management interface we provide to websites built with third-party CMS or custom code.

Free Caching

The websites created with Website Builder App have natively enabled speed optimization mechanisms like NGINX Direct Delivery and dynamic caching by default, which do not require any additional configuration by you and are constantly managed by us to ensure optimal website performance.

Free Backups

We create automatic daily backups for all sites built with the SiteGround Website Builder App. We keep up to 30 backup copies for sites hosted on shared hosting plans and up to 14 copies for sites hosted on Cloud accounts. Currently, free restores from these backups may be requested through Client Area > Contact Us page > SiteGround tools and extra services > Help with backup restore.

Features that Website Buildеr App Users Access in a Different Way, as They Do Not Have Site Tools Interface

There are several features that SiteGround customers who build their website using a third-party CMS or custom code may access through Site Tools. Since the Site Tools interface is not available to Website Builder App users, they can manage the following features through the Client Area, as follows:

Email Accounts

You can create, access and manage the email accounts of your Website Builder App website from the Email Tools accessible from the Client Area > Websites > Email Tools button.

Website Traffic

To see the traffic of your website created with Website Builder App, go to the Analytics Page tab from the Client Area > Websites > Site Admin > Analytics.

Domain DNS Management

The DNS settings of the website’s domain built with Website Builder App can only be managed through the Domains page accessible through Client Area > Services > Domains.

Features that Are Not Available for Website Builder App Users, as They Do Not Have Site Tools Interface

Website Builder App websites are managed through their Site Admin and the Client Area and do not have the Site Tools interface that is available to websites, which are built with third-party CMS or custom code. That is why the following features and tools are currently not available to Website Builder App users:

• Error logs list;
• Access logs list;
• Cron Jobs tool;
• Parked domains;
• Subdomains;
• Protected URLs;
• Blocked Traffic;
• White-label users, as currently only Site Tools supports white-label access.

Extra services that are not compatible with Website Buildеr App sites

There are several extra services that SiteGround customers who build their website using a third-party CMS or custom code may additionally order. These services are not compatible with sites built with SiteGround Website Builder App:
