How to point/transfer my domain name from Aruba?
If you have a domain managed at Aruba, but you want to point it to your SiteGround account, there are two ways to do that.
- Change the name servers of the domain. This will point the web service, mail and change the active DNS zone to the one at SiteGround. To change the name servers, login to your Aruba account, then click on Control Panel. Find the Utility Domain section, then choose the DNS management and Name servers tool. Under the Name Server section choose Substitute Record. A pop-up window will be displayed to inform you that this action will point the current name server to a different provider. Click on Continue to proceed. Select your domain and enter the name servers for your SiteGround account in the Hostname fields, leaving the optional Value fields empty. Keep in mind that it might take up to 48 hours for the DNS changes to propagate.
- Update the A record for your domain. This will point only the website to SiteGround. To do that, log in to your Aruba account, then click on Control Panel. Find the Utility Domain section, then choose the DNS management and Name servers tool. Click on Modify under the Record section. Change the main A record marked as empty to point to your SiteGround Site Tools IP address. Find the www record and change it as well to point to the same IP address. Keep in mind that it might take up to 48 hours for the DNS changes to propagate.
To transfer your domain name from Aruba to SiteGround, log in to your Aruba account, then click on Control Panel. Find the Domain Utility section there and choose Authorization Code. You will see 3 options: Unlock domain through which you will obtain the unlocking of the domain which will be effective within 2 working days; Send authorization code that allows you to access the EPP code; Unlock domain and send authorization code through which both of the previously indicated operations are performed.
Once the domain is unlocked and you have the Authorization code, request the domain transfer from your Client Area > Services > Domains > Transfer.
