How can I transfer a domain name from one SiteGround account to another?

How to initiate a domain transfer to another SiteGround client? 

These steps are only for standalone domain names registered with SiteGround that are not associated with an existing website.

If there is a website for that domain name, the website ownership transfer steps should be followed instead, to move both the site and the domain name.

Only active domain names can be transferred. To avoid complications, make sure it has at least a few days prior to expiration.

The transfer process can be started by the SiteGround client managing the domain name from their Client Area > Services > Domains > Settings next to the preferred domain.

On the Transfer Domain page, the receiving party’s details should be submitted.

IMPORTANT: Transfers can only be initiated to existing SiteGround clients and the provided email address should be the one related with the receiving party’s SiteGround account.

If there is a Domain Privacy enabled, it can be transferred along with the domain name.

How to accept the incoming transfer from another SiteGround client?

The SiteGround client who has been invited to accept the domain will receive an email with a direct link to the Accept Domain page. They will also see a notification for the transfer invitation in their Client Area. They will have 72 hours to accept the invite.

If there is a Domain Privacy included in the transfer, the accepting party can choose whether to accept this additional service along with the domain name.

Once the receiving party accepts the invite, the domain will be immediately removed from the Client Area of the sending client and will be displayed instead in the Services > Domains page of the accepting client.

IMPORTANT: The domain transfer changes only the Client Area where the domain name is managed.

The registrant details of the domain name should be also be updated to match the true domain owner’s registrant details.

How to cancel an outgoing domain transfer sent to another SiteGround client?

The sending party can cancel the transfer before the receiving party accepts the invite. To do that, go to Services > Domains and click the Cancel Transfer button.

The receiving party will receive an email that the domain transfer invite has been canceled.

How to decline an incoming domain transfer sent by another SiteGround client?

The receiving party may immediately decline a domain transfer invitation from the Accept Transfer page, by clicking on the Decline button at the bottom.

The sending party will receive an email that the transfer invite has been canceled.

If the receiving party does not accept the transfer within 72 hours, the invitation will expire and the sending party will be able to start a new transfer process to the same, or another recipient.
