How to verify your domain in Google Workspace?
You must verify the domain’s ownership in order to start using Gmail, Google Drive, and all the other services included with your Google Workspace account.
If you have purchased Google Workspace with an existing domain pointed to SiteGround’s DNS, we’ll automatically verify your domain during the activation process.
If the domain you’ve used to create a Google Workspace account is not pointed to SiteGround’s DNS, you’ll need to go through the following steps:
Table of contents:
1. Get your verification record from your Google Admin
Once you log inside your Google admin dashboard, click on the Verify Domain button showing in the yellow notification.
The page that will load will show you a quick setup wizard. Click on the first option, “Protect.”
The next screen will give you the gist of what needs to happen to verify your domain. Once you read the short description, click the button “I’m ready to protect my domain” to proceed.
The first step is prompting you to visit your domain’s registrar website. It will tell you where your DNS settings are managed. Once you’ve established where your DNS settings are managed, click on the button Next: Go to Step 2.
The next step presents the unique TXT verification record required for the domain verification. Click on the highlighted text field to copy the verification code.
2. Add the verification record to your DNS records
You need to log into your domain registrar page and find where you can manage your domain DNS records. There you should add the Google Workspace verification code as a TXT record.
If you have to do this for a domain using SiteGround DNS, read here how to edit your DNS records.
3. Tell Google to verify
Return to your Google admin account and click on the “Protect Domain” button.
Note that this process might take a while to complete.
If the verification is successful, you will see a success message. At this point, you can start using all the features in your Google Workspace account.
